Fellowship Opportunities in Technology Transfer - Marketing

The DHHS, NIH, NCI Technology Transfer Center (TTC) has fellowship opportunities available to qualified candidates in the technology transfer marketing field. This fellowship opportunity lets you combine your science background with a new career in technology transfer marketing. Marketing candidates must possess a Ph.D in the life sciences; a business, economics, or public health degree desirable. Excellent writing and speaking skills are required. Previous fellows have successfully transferred to technology transfer negotiating and licensing positions at Universities and within the Federal Government.

The TTC is responsible for promoting and negotiating research partnerships between NCI scientists and outside parties such as biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies allowing federally funded research discoveries to be further developed and commercialized.

Marketing candidate will:

• Meet with NCI inventors to develop marketing strategies and company leads for their technologies;
• Write CRADA/Collaboration Opportunity advertisements and cover letters aimed at business development managers.
• Monitor responses to direct mail campaigns and follow-up with non-responders developing company sources for other collaborative opportunities;
• Actively promote technologies available for collaboration to biotech and pharmaceutical companies at conferences and meetings;
• Serve as point-of-contact for call-in requests for more information on collaboration opportunities;
• Write collaboration "success stories" for publication on TTC's web site and for other marketing endeavors including submitting technologies for technology transfer awards;
• Develop basic agreement negotiating skills.

Stipends are determined by the level of education and number of years of experience post-graduation. Starting stipends for those with no experience are: Master's degree $33,200; Ph.D. $47,400. Starting stipends are higher with relevant work experience and/or additional, applicable degrees. Stipends are paid monthly in arrears. Health benefits are provided. Annual stipend increases may be given on the Fellow's anniversary date. Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (must hold green card) eligible for citizenship within 4 years. Candidate must have received most current degree within the last 8 years.
